ATA — Day of Rage Announcement, Locations to Avoid

The following ATA announcement — warning truckers to avoid Day of Rage protests scheduled for today, July 15th — was sent to us from the Southeastern Transportation Security Council (SETSC).

    TO: All ATA GFC
RE: Security of your drivers, equipment and freight.
    CC: NDTA

Please advise your security and safety directors of the times and locations below that would be prudent to avoid on Friday, July 15, owing to organized "Day of Rage Protests Across America".

Inform all your drivers who could be in or near these locations. Be GONE long before events begin. Such events are organic and can materialize well before the time anticipated.

Work with shippers and receivers to plan and prepare now to keep your drivers safe.

Subject: "Day of Rage Protests Across America"

On July 15, 2016, multiple protests are scheduled to be conducted across the United States. Being anywhere near these protests greatly increases the chance that you, your family or clients could become a victim of violence. Use this as a list of places to AVOID on Friday the 15th. While the media does specify nonviolence and denounces the actions taken against police officers that were not involved in these deaths, with the tagline "Day of Rage" it is safe to expect emotions to be running very high on both sides of the line. No matter how great your empathy might be for those who have unjustly lost their lives, these protests are not safe places to be. The propensity for violence at these protest is extremely high! Persons required to be near these areas are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and avoid large gatherings.
